Power Ballad: Paul Rudd, Nick Jonas to Star in Musical Comedy

Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas are set to star in the upcoming musical comedy Power Ballad according to a recent report from Deadline.

The film comes from director John Carney (Once) and will follow the story of “a wedding singer (Rudd), a rock star (Jonas), and the song that comes between them,” according to a description from Deadline.

Currently, not much else is known about the project or the rest of its cast. Filming is already underway in Dublin, Ireland, however, with Deadline reporting that the plan is to make the rounds during the upcoming Cannes Film Festival in the hopes of finding a buyer.

Carney excited to be getting to work with Rudd and Jonas

“I’m delighted to be working with so many great people,” said Carney in a statement. “I’ve been working on this script with my buddy Peter for years, and now Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas are in my kitchen.”

Rudd most recently starred in 2024’s Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, and is set to star in the upcoming films Death of a Unicorn and Friendship. Jonas is best known for his career as a musician, being one-third of the Jonas Brothers. Jonas has acted in several projects, however, with his most recent role coming in 2023’s The Good Half, a comedy-drama from Robert Schwartzman.
